The medal was established in 1915 to commemorate the accession of Emperor Taisho to the throne in 1915.
The medal was awarded to all persons who participated in the celebrations of the ceremony, there is a version for men and a version for women.
The medal is silver, with a diameter of 30 mm, its case is made of unlacquered wood.
