Wiki - Germany - Infantry Assault Badge
Instituted on December 20, 1939 to award Heer and Waffen SS troops (silver category), later on June 1, 1940 the bronze category was instituted for mechanized infantry troops.
The troops could be decorated with this badge if they could prove to have participated in three close combats on different days.
The badge was first manufactured in tombak, later it was manufactured in zink, there are hollow (stamped), semi-hollow and solid models.
