Wiki - Japan - Imperial Capital Rehabilitation Commemorative Medal

 

Established on August 13, 1930, commemorates the reconstruction of Tokyo after the disastrous earthquake that hit the country on September 1, 1923, which significantly affected the cities of Tokyo and Yokohama, with an estimated total of 140,000 deaths as a result of the earthquake, in addition to the landslides and fires caused by it, with extensive material damage.
 
 
The medal was awarded to those who took part in the reconstruction of the capital, and it is estimated that 35,000 medals were made.
 
 
The medal has a diameter of 30mm and is made of silver. The box is made of pressed cardboard.
