Wiki - Japan - Russo-Japanese War Medal 1904-1905

The Russo-Japanese War of 1904/5 was the result of the clash of the expansionist policies of the Russian and Japanese Empires in the Manchurian and Korean area, as the Russians sought an outlet to the Pacific Ocean that would not freeze in winter (as was the case in Vladivostok) and to expand their influence in the area, Russian commanders set their sights on Manchuria and to extend their influence to Korea, a series of diplomatic clashes led Japan to go to war with Russia to maintain its influence in the area, beginning with the attack on Port Arthur (China).

The war ended in an armistice between the two contenders, although the big loser was the Russian Empire, which was greatly weakened before the rest of the Western powers, and its influence in the Far East declined.

The medal is bronze, with a diameter of 30,5 mm, on its ribbon there is a pin whose text is "war medal", its case is made of wood without lacquer.
